Steven Lines has successfully defended the Ross Wright Memorial at Murray Bridge Speedway last Saturday night and in the process recorded his 11th feature-race win of the 2015-16 season.
After a mixed run earlier in the night throughout the qualifying events, the WA #3 Bridgestone Tyre Centre Albany/Halls Haulage backed KPC driver managed to start the 30-lap feature race from position five.
A well calculated and consistent race saw Lines remain in the top five for the majority of the race, before a late charge and having leader Matt Egel move off his racing line, allowed Lines to execute a race-winning pass.
With a total of three feature-race wins to his name now at Murray Bridge Speedway, Lines was pleased to record yet another win for the Halls Motorsports team.
“It is great to get another win for the team at Murray Bridge Speedway, especially in a special event like the Ross Wright Memorial,” expressed Lines, who also won a World Series round and the Bill Wigzell Battle of the Bridge at Murray Bridge Speedway earlier this season.
“I didn’t have the best of runs earlier in the night, but the team and I kept pushing on and we were able to come away with the win when it mattered most: the feature race.”
The next event for Lines and the Halls Motorsport team will be at the Easter Trail. The first race will be at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway on Good Friday, followed by an appearance at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway on Easter Saturday and then the third and final round at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway on the Sunday night.
“I’m looking forward to the Easter Trail and being able to race three consecutive nights at three different tracks,” Lines enthused.
“The Easter Trail is always a tough event, with so much tough competition as well as the cold weather, but I’m confident of being able to enjoy a strong run – especially on home soil at Borderline Speedway.”
In other Halls Motorsport news, David Hall contested the sixth round of the 360 Power Series (360 Sprintcars) last Saturday night at Manjimup Speedway, and he went on to finish the 20-lap feature race in fifth-place.
Don’t forget to pick up your Halls Motorsport merchandise from the team’s transporter after the race meeting. They have a wide range of t-shirts and hoodies available.
